Thanks to Skatterbrain as these tracks from Säkert! were posted there just before the weekend started and subsequently I ended up listening to almost nothing but this the entire weekend. For those that don’t know, Säkert! is also known more prominently as Annika Norlin from Hello Saferide, as this moniker appears to just be another side project for the Swedish singer/songwriter.
One very interesting dynamic to these songs compared to her other works, is the fact that they are sung completely in the Swedish language. It’s actually really wonderful if you were somehow thinking that could be a negative thing. Not understanding what she’s singing about has it’s advantage as I don’t have to pay as much attention to the lyrics overall, while really being able to notice all of the smaller details to each of the songs. Dare I say, I think I might like these even more than Annika’s Hello Saferide work. It’s great indiepop and you should definitely check out the debut self-titled album from Säkert! as it was released back in February on Razzia Records.
