Sia, the Australian chanteuse most famous for her work with Zero 7 and the track “Breathe Me,” has a new album titled “Some People Have Real Problems” coming next January. The first song to get the single treatment is the upbeat “Buttons.” While I still have no clue as too what the rest of the album will sound like, this song marks something of a departure. Her past work is, for the most part, full of heartache and yearning (her last album, Colour the Small One, was recorded after the death of her boyfriend). This track, however, has a faster beat and more poppy melody, and it looks like we may get some glimpses of a (relatively) happy Sia on this next disc. I was skeptical of this new sound on first listen, but the track is catchy and won me over. See what you think.
Also, if you’d like to check out the quite odd video, which basically has Sia using everything from panty hose to clothespins to distort her face while singing, head on over to if:mv.
