::Video:: The Go! Team | “Doing It Right”

When I heard the first single “Grip Like A Vice” off The Go! Team’s upcoming record Proof of Youth, I was a bit apprehensive about it considering I didn’t think the track was up to par with anything from Thunder, Lightning, Strike. That album is still amazing to this day and I still listen to it at least monthly. It sort of dampened my anticipation for it, until I was finally able to hear the complete album for myself yesterday.
I’ll word this simply by saying that Proof of Youth is currently blowing my fucking mind away. Thankfully, the formula for the most part has gone unchanged as that familiar marching band sound and frantic group chanting is still prevalent. It also manages to mix things up slightly with an acoustic number along with a few other downtempo (well not really) tracks for a nice change of pace.
With tracks like “Doing It Right,” “Fake ID” and and “Flashlight Fight” – which features Public Enemy frontman Chuck D – this album manages to succeed in avoiding the sophomore slump and lives up to every expectation I could possibly have. Proof of Youth will be released on September 11th via Sub Pop.
