Well, this last week I’ve been in the emergency room due to a massive infection in my face, which needed IV antibiotics and morphine to kill the pain and the bacteria making a home in my face. So, I don’t have anything new to post, but I do have something I meant to post ages ago but am finally getting around to now.
The Rentals, after 8 years, are finally back. For those who don’t know or forgot, the Rentals are usually known as the band from the guy that left Weezer. Matt Sharp, the Rentals’ ringleader, was Weezer’s bassist back when they made good albums (ie, the Blue Album and Pinkerton). And, with the Rentals, I’d say he’s made a fairly strong case for being part of what made Weezer so special. Just check out anything the Rentals have done, and compare it to “Beverly Hills,” and you’ll see what I mean.
Well, like I said, after 8 years, the Rentals have released something. It’s a nice little EP titled The Last Little Life, and it has everything you’d expect from the Rentals. The mellow melodies, boy-girl harmonies, and synthesizer magic are back. The disc is available at Borders or online via iTunes or eMusic. Below I’ll give you a taste with the EP’s smooth opener “Last Romantic Day” and a link to the band’s performance on the Current.
