After one of the largest album release weeks of the year, I was kind of hoping to not have the same thing happen for the second consecutive week in a row. As you can see though, we were not let off the hook with this week’s releases either. Not as many high-profile albums with this bunch, but still more than enough goodies to wet your appetite for something new.
If there’s one album this week that I can highly recommend, it would certainly be the US release of New Young Pony Club’s Fantastic Playroom. I can’t speak for everyone on the blog, but I for one have played the hell out of this album for the past year and it doesn’t disappoint at all with at least three excellent singles. Outside of that, I haven’t really given any time to any of these albums this week. though i’m definitely interested in hearing Hey Venus! from the Super Furry Animals and VHS or Beta’s Bring On The Comets (Eric has posted about them several times). I also happened to check out the self-titled Liars album after much hype surrounding the album announcement, and it just isn’t my cup of tea to be honest. I just can’t get into music like that unless I really force myself to listen.
Anyways, what albums are you picking up this week? I never really talk about dvd releases here, but season 1 of Heroes comes out this week! I didn’t get into that show until halfway through the season, so I may pick this one up to catch the first half of episodes.
