I had no idea there was a new Josh Rouse album out this week. That’s very exciting news and I will probably go out and pick that up at some point today. If there’s one thing you can expect with a new release from the Nebraska native, is that it will be consistent. From his debut Dressed Up Like Nebraska onwards – i’ve yet to ever hear a bad record.
Also out this week is the US release of the Mercury Prize nominated Bat for Lashes album Fur and Gold, which was one of our favorite albums of 2006 across the board. I highly recommend it if you haven’t checked it out yet. I also like what i’m hearing from the covers album from Shivaree and Port O’Brien’s The Wind and the Swell.

I haven’t listened to much else from the week’s new releases, but I have to at least mention the release of the The Simpson’s Movie soundtrack that comes in the Limited Edition Donut Packaging. Have you seen this!? That is just great. I would pick this up if I wasn’t lacking in funds right now.

Thanks for the Polly Paulusma track. The Josh Rouse album is good, but nothing on Nashville or 1972. Some tracks are equal to the best of those two albums, and the new album has more substance than the pretty but lightweight Subtitulo, but it is quite a bit of work to really, really like it.I hope that after the 10th listening it will click for me, and I’ll declare it a work of genius.
But Josh possibly not at his best is still better than most of the guff around…
