I’ve yet to check the releases for this week, but there’s one album in particular that you should keep your eye on. That being The Brunettes, who are releasing their Sub Pop debut Structure and Cosmetics on Tuesday. I was first introduced to the New Zealand duo last year when I saw them mentioned on Cable & Tweed and i’ve been completely smitten by their sweet, sweet pop sounds ever since. It’s music that teeters on being too cute for it’s own good, but thankfully doesn’t cross that boundary.

This is technically the duo’s third album and hearing this downloadable track “Small Town Crew,” it seems they’ve gone for a more deep and mature type of sound compared to the short and sweet pop songs from previous works. Regardless of the new direction, the music is charming and a joy to listen to. I don’t know about any of you, but I personally can’t wait to hear this one.

The duo will also be embarking on a world-wide tour in support of the record starting August 10th. Be sure to check them out if you can. I also included a track off their second full-length that I remember listening to a ridiculous amount of times.

    Nice picture choice. ;-)

You sure about third album thing? I know I have more than that on the shelf at home already.

Yeah, I saw you used the same image.  That’s just a cute picture to me, so I had to use it too.

I think it’s their third album. Three full-lengths and three EPs. Maybe i’m wrong :(

I’m sure it’s the EPs that are the difference.

I’m seeing them live this Friday. I can’t wait! I saw them play back in June and they were amazing, I just have to see them one more time before they head your way.
