Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan circa 1960s
I’ve mentioned the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There on the blog several times before, so i’ll spare you the details this time around. Recently, the soundtrack listing for the film had been released, and all I have to say is holy shit! What a lineup. It’s rare that I ever get excited about a soundtrack but I think i’ll be certainly picking this one up.
From Sufjan Stevens and Cat Power to Jeff Tweedy and Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová, who are the current toast of the indie film world, there is just an incredible amount of great artists that are set to contribute to this soundtrack. The soundtrack will be released on October 30th. Check out the official tracklisting via Goldenfiddle after the jump below.
To read more about the film in detail, i’ve posted about it previously here and here.

The movie is gonna suck so hard, i can feel it. As for the soundtrack, at first glance it looks decent, although most of the bands listed are unknown for me.
The cast is the only thing that interests me about this film. To be honest, i’m kind of sick of biopics in general.
Yeah, the cast is pretty good, although i’m not very sure how Heath Ledger and Richard Gear can be considered Bob Dylan look alikes, i guess their acting skills will have to compensate. I actually liked Walk The Line (the JOhhny Cash bio), but i’m very skeptical about this.
Aw,c’mon now , you dont really expect any biopic about Mr. Dylan to be
like any one else’s do you! thats the whole idea . You just dont get it if you
do . I cant wait! long may he reign !
had it before golden fiddle who linked to me, sorry.

I think it looks like a creative attempt to show Dylan’s career — it seems odd at first, but he really has more lives than a cat so maybe it makes sense to have different actors play him at different times. Creative, arty, not for the Dumb and Dumber set — or the folks who booed him when he went electric at Newport.
As for the guy who says it will suck, and he doesn’t know any of the bands listed on the soundtrack — he should get out more, and hear some non-mainstream music. The bands are perfect, and thank God they didn’t put more mainstream pop folks on the list who never understood Dylan in the first place. What do you want? Brittney Spears singing “It’s Alright, Ma, I’m Only Bleeding’?
These musicians listed have clearly been influenced by Dylan, and can pay some musical respects in a creative way. Can’t wait to hear it.
man, I cant wait for this movie!!!
The music is perfect Im glad he uses just about everyone for all the different songs. Im a huge dylan fan and from seeing the trailer this is gunna be awesome.
And its true you cant make a regular movie about dylan, he is one big question mark, and i think this is the perfect way actually!
and to tibi or w/e your name is, how do you know if the movie is gunna suck when you dont know S H I T about it!
