Three years have gone by since these Louisville Sluggers released “Night on Fire”, their breakthrough album blending a mix of Daft Punk sorts of electronic sounds intertwined with indie melodies. This album was a personal favorite of mine for the year of 2004 and I am still surprised that it has been three years, because I can still throw the album on and be content.

The Louisville makers of Indietronica are back at it again, with an upcoming album “Bring on the Comets” to be released August 28th. Recently VHS or Beta put a couple of new tracks on their myspace page, one titled “Can’t believe a single word”, and the other “Burn it all Down”.

When I first heard the track “Can’t believe a single word”, I was initially disappointed. It just wasn’t a sound I expected to hear. A huge push in the Indie direction, and away from the electro-dance, this track has more guitars than synths, and had I heard this track out of the blue, I could have never guessed it was VHS or Beta. I must say I am still digesting the change of pace in this track.

On the other hand, I felt the exact opposite listening to “Burn it Down”. This track has a more influence of electro music and the Robert Smith-esque vocals of Craig Pfunder. This track is hopefully going to become the first single from the album.

I am unsure if I had unreal expectations for this album, but I really hope that when this album drops in August, it is filled with tracks such as “Burn it Down”, and not filled with “Can’t believe a single Word.”

Take a Listen to “Burn it Down”, along with a banger from “Night on Fire”, and catch them on tour this summer.
