There has been a lot of new music premiered over the past month and a half that i’ve neglected to mention here on the blog. I would never have a chance to cover all of this individually, so I figured it would be best to gather everything and just post it here. Plus, Sundays are lazy time for me and i’d rather sleep all day. I can’t promise i’ll do this often, so take it while it’s here.

Spoon | “The Underdog”
I just got around to listening to Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Friday night at work, and wow is all I have to say. Excellent record and pretty much solid from beginning to end. Be sure to pick this one up when it’s released on July 10 on Merge.

Architecture in Helsinki | “Heart it Races”
This single has been making the rounds for a while now, but I haven’t mentioned it here yet. It’s a song that grows on you through numerous listens. I’m looking forward to the new album Places Like This more than ever now. Look for it in August on Polyvinyl.

Okkervil River | “Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe”
I’ve never been much of a fan of Okkervil River, so maybe The Stage Names will change my mind once it’s released August 7th on Jagjaguwar.

Ryan Adams | “Two (clip)”
Same goes for Ryan Adams, but that’s more of his reputation outside of his music. These two clips that have been released of “Two” and “Everybody Knows” have me looking forward to Easy Tiger when it’s released in June.

Shout Out Louds | “Tonight I Have to Leave It”
First single off Our Ill Wills, which will be released wayyyy off in September. I’m running out of things to say already.

The Polyphonic Spree | “Running Away”
New song off the upcoming album from The Polyphonic Spree titled The Fragile Army. Great track and equally good music video if you haven’t seen it yet.

This Week In Blogs I Read:

Cable & Tweed premieres a brand-spanking new track from The Selmanaires.

Indietastic has a great interview with The Noisettes up on their site. Do check it out.

Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good (I always laugh when I type that out) has a live review of The Pipettes. A group i’d love to see perform live, but who knows when they’ll tour anywhere remotely close to me.

Head over to Speed of Dark and just read everything, because both indie mom and alt gramma work very hard on their site. Almost every time I visit there’s something new to listen to that i’ve never heard before.

Out the Other reminds everyone to pick up the free live EP from The Black Keys.

Music is Art is running the same Warm & Scratchy contest that I posted about earlier in the week. Improve your chances and head over there to win the sweet Adult Swim goodness.

Ha! I did a post like this last week too. Just can’t get to everything, it seems.

  2. PJ says:

Yeah, there’s never a shortage. I remember my one fear when I started blogging was that I would run out of music to write about…

  3. alt-gramma says:

    Thanks for the love, PJ!

And yes, I agree…so much music, so little time! To try to keep up and to break my bad habit of overwriting, I’ve been posting short blurbs in bunches like this too. I think it works pretty well. :)

I feel your pain on this one. I’ve got about 30 feeds that I go through daily and I think I’m about to add a bunch more. Thanks a lot for that…

I’m thinking of making Sunday a day to just link to songs.

  5. Val says:

Thanks for the love x2. Sorry I left your favorite bit out of the entry, I thought it did better as a funny story than as a bit to actually put into the entry itself.

  6. Pablo says:

I’m liking the round-up… I have some catching up to do after a week of enjoying California, but I’m back! I hear you about there never being a shortage, sometimes it’s like drinking from a fire hose…
