Yesterday day I made a marvelous little discovery on garageband.com- The Main Drag, a Boston band that I think is ready for a leap into recognition. Self-professed purveyors of “protoolscore,” these guys have an electronic indie sound that call to mind bits of the Notwist, Dntel, Mum, the Most Serene Republic, and Broken Social Scene- I’m also reminded of Utah’s own Uzi and Ari. The sound is textured, tinkling and shimmering in all the right places, and the songs have an emotional energy that give the electronics an organic feel. They have an album coming out next month (July 19 to be exact) titled Yours as Fast as Mine, but it looks like it will be available for digital purchase on iTunes next week. Give it a listen- you may fall in love with it like I did… Enjoy!

Nice to see someone else posting about these guys! Great band.
Hey. I love The Main Drag, too. I got a chance to interview them here: http://cutandsewn.com/word/2008/12/13/cut-sewn-talks-to-the-main-drag. I’ve got some more mp3s there.
