*EDIT* It appears Mute Math have put up the real version of their Transformers theme up on their myspace page. Thank goodness, cos this other one is crap.

This is without a doubt the worst thing I have ever heard, on par with stuff like Vanilla Ice’s “Ninja Rap”. I mean I don’t expect too much from rehashed cartoon themes, but come on now. I had no clue who this was though, but it seemed to sound a lot like Linkin Park and maybe a little bit of EAR RAPE mixed in. Sadly, this appears to be the real deal as IGN mentions that it’s Mutemath.

I’m still genuinely looking forward to the Transformers movie, but let’s just hope that this is played somewhere in the ending credits. Better yet, it should be played by Soundwave (the transformer who shoots fucking transforming cassettes out) before he gets blasted by Optimus Prime. Here’s to hoping this one is a fake, as i’d rather listen to Stan Bush’s “The Touch” from the 1986 movie right about now.

    Say it ain’t so!!!

Um, not to burst your bubble or anything, but I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I’m 99% sure that’s the theme to the old cartoon. And that 1% is reserved just because haven’t seen the show in forever.

  3. Geez… are you sure that’s Mute Math? I know who they are, they’re really amazing both live and on record actually… but that doesn’t sound anything like them. Mute Math’s vocalist has a kind of a Nawlins jazz/reggae tone to his vocals. They’re actually from the Big Easy, so that’s appropriate. This sounds like someone who wants very badly to be LP.

Ok, you know what? Ignore what I said earlier. I watched the video and somehow missed the MP3 at the end.

Alright, so let’s take a look at this. Can you really write a new Transformer’s theme? Doesn’t it have to be full of cheesy 80’s elements and stuff?

I think it could work great in the opening credits. Not too distracting or anything, and the perfect music for those ‘freeze on the actor and throw their name up there’ shots.

Yeah, sorry to confuse. The video is the original theme song. I’ve actually heard of Mute Math too, and they sound nothing like that mp3. there must be two different bands or something.

It appears that Mute Math has put their real version up on their myspace page.

I’m going on the record as saying officially that this version isn’t crap. But then again, that’s coming from a guy who doesn’t think that Tatu’s debut album doesn’t get enough credit.

That Mute Math version is totally acceptable.

What you’ve posted here is probably what they pipe into the elevators in Hell.

  8. Sam says:

I like the verson you’ve posted here, but it’s a little short, and cuts off real sharp.

  9. tristan says:

Guys…this is the actual theme from the 80’s…not the first and original but it’s a version of it..this came from the tv series..so it doesn’t suck..it’s just a classic that’s been outdated..

I actually like that version better than Mutemath’s. And I like Black Lab’s version even better than both. And I agree with whoever said that the person who did that version (the rock one) is trying very hard to be linkin park. too bad they aren’t pulling it off.
