I’m kind of late on mentioning this, but I just wanted to congratulate Rich who runs the great blog Cable & Tweed on being named one of five Atlanta bloggers “who matter” by Creative Loafing. He definitely deserves the praise, as he’s always on the ball when it comes to new bands in Atlanta and Athens. Plus the fact that he has no problem blogging about comic book movies and baseball among other things. To be honest, there wouldn’t even be a Yellow Stereo if it wasn’t for his blog, as it was one of the first I had ever read. If that heap of praise wasn’t enough for you to visit his blog, than I don’t know what is. Just don’t come crying to me if you don’t agree.

If you head over there, you can check out the news on the upcoming Corndogorama event that will be at Lenny’s from July 12-15. This actually looks like a lot of fun, and it’s something i’d like to attend myself. Here’s a little quote from the blog regarding some of the announced acts:
The lineup has also expanded and improved as expected. Along with previously announced acts like The Selmanaires, many others have been added including Snowden, The Booze, Luigi, Magnapop, The Coathangers, Gentlemen Jesse and His Men, The 63 Crayons, Jupiter Watts, Hope for Agoldensummer, and All Night Drug Prowling Wolves. For the full lineup to date, visit the festival schedule online. Mastodon seems to have disappeared from the previously published tentative lineup, for what it’s worth. Several time slots are still empty, so we’ll see what is yet to come.
Sounds good huh? Here’s free mp3s of some of the bands too!
- Snowden | “Anti-Anti”
- Luigi | “Mariposa”
- Magnapop | “Satellite”
- The 63 Crayons | “Revolution Fight Song”
- Gentlemen Jesse and His Men | “Goin’ Outta My Mind”
- Hope for Agoldensummer | “Malt Liquor”
- The Selmanaires | “Images”

Well, shiver my timbers. Thanks for the love, yo.
Cornodogorama should be fun. It looks like Mastodon got dropped because they got added to the Pitchfork Festival. Go figure.
And speaking of comic book movies, I’m undecided re: the new F4. The first was one was so ‘meh’ and I hope they don’t waste the Surfer.
I think the FF4 trailers look pretty good, though the recent tv spots have left a sour taste in my mouth with it’s sad excuse for humor. I’ll probably end up seeing it though, because i’ve seen almost every other big sequel movie so far (minus Shrek). Go watch Knocked Up
Ya, not feeling Knocked Up. Someone close to me is currently facing an unexpected pregnancy, and it’s not really something I’m ready to laugh about. Not to be a downer, but if I see this I imagine it’s gonna be a while from now.
Luckily, I have less reason to be affected by a movie about intergalactic conquest. As far as I know, anyway.
That’s definitely understandable. Sorry
First, I wanna say I’m so happy to see that Magnapop is still around. I have “Scratching Doesn’t Help” from–what–1995? and I saw them perform with Local H out here. I haven’t looked them up for years.
Next, I thought Knocked Up was very funny, and speaking of real life, it’s pretty much the story my stepdaughter has been living for the past 17 months. She has a great sense of humor tho, and she wants to see the movie.
In her story, the dad has not made the big changes to meet his responsibilities like the character in the movie did, but the baby is absolutely adorable. Family members support them completely, monetarily and otherwise.

Pardon, that’s “RUBBING Doesn’t Help.” LOL @ me!
