The Graboid is back once again on Thursday, as this seems to be the third week in a row that it’s missed it’s original Wednesday slot. Besides me being the resident slack ass as usual, there are some highly anticipated albums that have arrived to fight to the death for your hard-earned cash. A couple of those being The National’s Boxer, who I finally got to see perform in person when they opened for Arcade Fire earlier in the month. I found out what all the hype was all about as they were amazing, but the new album itself doesn’t disappoint at all. I’m not sure if I like it more than Alligator, but i’m willing to bet that Boxer will grow on me over time like Alligator. Another anticipated release is the debut from the indie-pop quintet Voxtrot. It’s nice to have this one see the light of day as I feel like i’ve been listening to their many EPs for years, though it was only a year ago exactly that I started listening to them.
If you’re looking for something a little different, i’d recommend checking out the Stars remix album Do You Trust Your Friends? It’s loaded with familiar names remixing tracks from Set Yourself On Fire. Sure, it’s not a new Stars album, but it’s better than squadoosh. One release I didn’t notice till tonight, is the new installment from Hot Chip of the ongoing DJ-Kicks series that has featured in previous iterations the likes of Erlend Øye, Four Tet and Thievery Corporation. It’s decent, but I think i’ve played the new track from the band “My Piano” about a million times tonight.
I haven’t had a chance to listen to a lot of the rest of this week’s bunch, though I really like the few tracks i’ve sampled from Meg Baird’s Dear Companion. Chris over at Indietastic has been bugging me to check out the Handsome Furs, and i’ve previewed Shapes and Sizes’ Split Lips, Winnings Hips, A Shiner in a previous post. Anything else i’m missing?

:squint: I have not been bugging you to listen to Handsome Furs! If anything, I’d bug you about the Maccabees.
“Boxer” is definitely good stuff… if it’s a bandwagon that the National have now, I’m not ashamed to be part of it…

First time here. I like your selection. I am planning on checking out Dan’s new kicks – The Handsome Furs are in Boston tomorrow night. Should be sweet! Stars is pretty good too.
The Handsome Furs show in Boston was called off. The band never made it through customs at the border! Damn. I’m sure they will reschedule though!
