It’s been an increasingly long length of time since I have posted anything besides the weekly Graboid. It’s funny how every night I say to myself that I will write about something, but end up pushing it to the next day. From there it begins to quickly spiral from days and than into weeks. Thankfully, it hasn’t extended into months as after seeing a few posts from someone other than myself has motivated me to post. It’s almost like a friendly competition when you have others contributing, as you try to keep up with whatever bit of content you can find.
Really though, it’s not too difficult to get back into the swing of things when a nice album drops on your lap like it did for me today. I received a package containing a promo copy from a band that goes by the name of Misha, an Asian/American duo of Ashley Yao and John Chao. I think they both knew each other from their childhood, but both seperately continued to move around the world until meeting again after college in New York where they’re currently based.
When I started listening to the album today, immediately I was reminded of The Notwist as the sound had similar combinations of electronica, acoustic guitars, strings and other modern instruments. Misha comes off as more of a genuinely light-hearted version of The Notwist as it’s more of a pop album that’s full of simple love songs. Like the the band mentions on their myspace page, they make pop music and you can’t go wrong with that. It’s very satisfying music to put on with the windows down while driving around during these warm (or extremely hot) days. Keep an eye out for Misha’s debut LP Teardrop Sweetheart as it will be released on June 19 via Tomlab.

Oh my gosh–we just saw this. This is probably completely inappropriate for a band to post, but thank you so much for the incredibly kind words. Ugh, now if the butterflies in our stomach would only stop for longer.
