I think this weekly post needed it’s own unique image. Usually I would spend so much time looking for random images to use or band pictures but I had some spare time on my hands to whip up something right quick. From my terrible Photoshop skills, this is the crappy result. If someone else would like to submit an image for the Graboid than please feel free, but this will do for now I guess.
I was very surprised at how many albums I managed to squeeze into this week’s Graboid as I think this might be the most i’ve ever included. I’m counting about eighteen different albums (!) that are worth looking into, and that doesn’t include some of the more recognizable names like The Arctic Monkeys and the Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band EP. I didn’t include Favourite Worst Nightmare because I think the album is rubbish and I never liked the band in the first place, so why recommend it to all of you. The Joanna Newsom EP on the otherhand I would include, but there are only three tracks on the entire thing and that would just be a diservice to the EP by posting anything from it.
With so many different albums to look at, it’s hard to not just recommend all of these. Though a few that have been getting extra play time at work are Bill Callahan’s Woke On A Whaleheart, Golden Smog’s (Tweedy-less this time around) Blood on the Slacks, the self-titled Ola Podrida album and Electric Soft Parade’s Need To Be Down-Hearted. I want to recommend the new Dntel, but a lot of the tracks have hardly grabbed me besides a couple, despite the great guest-vocalist talent on display with Dumb Luck. Not to be left out are two really great albums from Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Veils and Cornelius that have finally made their way to the US.

Great Graboid! Also, I was beginning to think I was the only person in the world who couldn’t stand Arctic Monkeys.
‘Drugstore Bust’ is one of my favorite songs of the year so far.
Funny, I used to absolutely despise the Arctic Monkeys, but I’ve actually come around since hearing their most recent single. Don’t know if the rest of the album will do it for me, though.
