The Coathangers Coming to Auburn!

Now that April Fool’s Day is officially over with (thank goodness), we can get back to business here on the site. I think the more I sat around Sunday and seeing all of the many pranks going on, I just came to the conclusion that I just find the whole day very aggravating. I’ll admit that we were tossing a few ideas around for something to do here, but it just seemed like a lot of work and little altogether lame.
It seems i’m starting to cover Atlanta bands much more frequently here, which is fine since there is basically squadoosh (my new favorite word) going on in terms of good music happening here in Auburn. I want to support some kind of local music, so might as well be a place I end up at whenever I have spare change to make the drive over. One such band that i’m really digging and who also seem to developing a solid following in Atlanta are The Coathangers, a quartet of females that play simple punk-rock songs that are fun, catchy, vulgar and perverse….simply it’s awesome. Really though, why do I even need to describe them when they have song titles like “Nestle in My Boobies” (song title of the year). This shit ain’t rocket science people, it’s just fucking good rock music.
The nice thing I noticed as I was preparing to write about this band was I noticed on their myspace page that they’re going to be playing here in Auburn on the 13th. Great news obviously, but I seriously hope people show up as what better way is there to spend your Friday the 13th than with four women singing to you about playing with their boobies? The answer is none, along with you needing to be clubbed in the face. The band will also be releasing their very first 7″ on Die Slaughterhaus sometime in April so keep an eye for that. You can also check out a live set that Rich over at Cable & Tweed recorded back in February. It’s good, so do listen and check them out with me when they come to Roosters on the 13th so i can buy you a few drinks or something.

I had heard from many people how great they were live, but I had a feeling they would be anyways as the more I listened to their music I could tell that these would translate very well in a live setting. This is a very talented group of ladies with each member showcasing that they can do more than what you might have noticed at first glance.
