Mentioned quite a few times on a few blogs that I visit once in a while, Elk City’s new album New Believers is one i’m definitely keeping my eyes on as I just can’t get enough of this one track “Los Cruzados”. Listen to the track as Renee LoBue’s vocals stand at the forefront while the end really grabs your attention and makes this completely irresistible. Another interesting tibit to this group is the addition of ex-Luna guitarist Sean Eden, which along with Dean & Britta’s recently released record has almost all of the ex-Luna members having some kind of material out this year.
Anyways, not much else to say besides that I really dig these tracks. Comparisons to Patti Smith, Kim Deal and a female Davie Bowie have all been used to describe LoBue’s vocals, but i’ve never been keen on comparisons myself so just you can decide on your own. The album will be released via Friendly Fire on April 17.

Never heard of them before, but this selection sounds great! Thanks for the hint!
[...] It occured to me late last night that maybe I should start doing the Graboid on Tuesdays. The only reason I had been doing it on Wednesday for so long was the simple fact that I am lazy and liked having the extra day to listen to all the new releases. Considerng Tuesdays are the album release days, I think it’s best to move it to that. What do you all of you think? Does it even matter? Let me know. If it’s overwhelming, than i’ll change it. This week’s list of releases contained many albums I haven’t heard before, so I did some digging around to see if there was anything interesting. You have big names like Nine Inch Nails, but don’t expect any mp3s from me. Other than that, i’ve covered Elk City’s New Believers previously, and I can definitely recommend that. There’s a new b-sides and rarities compilation from Superdrag out as well, you can read more about that here. Finally, one other interesting release is Bridging the Distance: A Portland, Oregon Covers Compilation, a covers album where the proceeds will go to benefit p:ear. Can read more about that here. [...]
