I hope everyone had a great holiday as it feels good to be posting again with the start of a fresh new year now upon us. I’m sorry for the complete lack of posts last week as I felt it was a slow week and I just wanted the week off to be lazy and do nothing. The small break was nice, but I felt so terrible not posting anything so I’ll try to make it up to you. I’ve been listening to a lot of music over the past few weeks, and I hope it’s not taboo around here to still be talking about music from 06′ as there are plenty that I never got around to covering. It feels nice though starting this new year off as when I first started this blog near the middle of last year that I felt I was behind on everything all the way till the last day of December. Hopefully i’ll be in the thick of things this time around!
Today i’ve got an awesome band i’ve been wanting to talk about as i’ve been in love with these tracks for a while now. The band is Au Revoir Simone, a three-piece girl group from Brooklyn who play some of the sweetest keyboard-pop you could imagine. It’s twee for sure, but it’s in the best way possible. It’s pop done right as you’ve got electro-pop synths aplenty that are straight out of the Postal Service handbook along with lovely harmonies and vocals from Heather, Erica and Annie that comprise this trio. Did I also mention that they are extremely cute?! That’s all I need in the world sometimes, good female-fronted twee pop….i’m in love.
Their second record, The Bird Of Music is due to be released in Europe sometime in March but there is no word yet on a U.S. release as i’ll keep you posted on that. I’ve already listened to most of it and I can’t recommend this to everyone enough, as it’s already an early favorite for me. See for yourself as these two tracks were taken from their myspace page that are from the upcoming album. You can also go to their website and download two tracks from their previous album Verses Of Comfort, Assurance and Salvation here. Do check them out!

I’ve been listening to this album for about a month or so and I have to agree with you. It’s really good. I’m a big fan of the track “Lark”.
Have you listened to the new album from Menomena? Probably my early favorite of 2007.
Glad to see you posting again man. Stop playing WoW, it’s computer crack!
Thanks for the Sad Song track! These girls make beautiful music. Have you heard The Teenagers remix of Fallen Snow?!
I haven’t heard the remix, but i see you have it on your site
Downloading now and thanks!
the quality isn’t the greatest but it’s still a great track.
I’m really enjoying these guys, and will now go and see them in Glasgow next month. They’re not just twee-pop though – there’s easily enough darkness there to make them more interesting.
[...] Two albums i’d also recommend are Au Revoir Simone’s The Bird Of Music and YACHT’s I Believe In You. Your Magic Is Real. I mentioned The Bird Of Music back in January, so it’s nice to finally see this one get released. If you like some good ol’ female-fronted twee, than this is the album for you. I haven’t covered YACHT on the blog yet, despite the fact that i’ve been listening to this for months. If you’re not familiar, YACHT is Jona Bechtolt – who is also one half of The Blow. [...]
