Many thanks to all for participating! I was so surprised at the amount of people who commented for the prizepack as there were a staggering twenty-five (a few late entries that I included as well) of you eyeing for the prize. I kinda had no idea how I was going to go about picking the winner randomly, but I decided to just write a number representing each person on a small piece of paper and dropping them into a box. I shuffled it up and randomly picked a winner….lame I know! Without further ado, the winning email address is: alexbullard@comcast.net (didn’t provide a name!). I’ve already sent out an email, so please email me back by the end of the day or i’ll pick another person. Thanks to all who participated and hopefully we’ll be having another fun contest for everyone soon!

In other news:
Since I don’t read Pitchfork regularly, I didn’t happen across the actual news of the announcement of a new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah record along with a couple of mp3s available on their website until Andy called me about it and I read the actual news on Cable & Tweed. I honestly though, didn’t really care. I ‘ve never been a big fan of theirs, I mean I like the actual music but I just can’t take Alec Ounsworth’s voice in any shape or form. Not to be a complete rotten apple about the whole thing, I actually heard the two released tracks and they aren’t bad. The word around the blogosphere seems to be divided down the middle as love it or hate it towards the tracks. For me, as long as Alec Ounsworth isn’t sounding like someone kicked him in the balls, than i’m ok with it.
The self-released album titled Some Loud Thunder is due out on January 30, but you will be able to download the track off the band’s website on January 16. The band was also kind enough to allow everyone to host the mp3s of the two tracks available on their website, so here are those for you. Enjoy!

Finally, on a completely unrelated topic, I find myself strangely addicted to watching these reruns of Beauty and the Geek. The reruns come on at around 11:00 pm cst on MTV, as it’s around the time I start to watch tv after I get home from work. It’s a nice thing as normally the only thing on is the endless Sportscenter reruns on ESPN and whatever is on Food Network. Anyways, i’m not big on reality shows, this comes off as kind of innocent despite it kinda being completely ridiculous. I guess i’m into it since i’m a ‘geek’ myself and share some of the qualities of most of the contestants (just not as badly). Not to mention that the theme song (Pet Shop Boys!) completely works and I couldn’t help but crack a smile when I first heard it along to the opening of the show. Anyone else watched this show?
