New Rufus Wainwright Album Announcement!

Now this is what I call some excellent news as the official announcement of Rufus Wainwright’s new album has been reported on NME and his website. I’ve been anxiously awaiting official confirmation, but now that I know – well it’s officially become, without a doubt, my most anticipated album of 2007. I’ve had this growing admiration for Rufus ever since I first listened to his self-titled debut in 1998. I regard his last releases, Want One and Want Two as two of the greatest albums of the decade so far and I have no doubts about my stance on that. Anyways, he’s wonderful and one of the best singer/songwriters working right now. Here’s the official announcement of the new album which will be titled Release The Stars:
Via NME:
Rufus Wainwright’s new album will be called ‘Release The Stars’.According to rufuswainwright.com, the follow up to 2004’s ‘Want Two’ will be produced by Wainwright himself.
Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant will serve as executive producer. The two had previously collaborated on ‘Matinee Idol’, a track from the Pet Shop Boys live album ‘Concrete’.
The album will be released in May.
From 2003’s Want One

At long last a ‘Rufie’ I wouldn’t mind being slipped.
…yeah, that was the best I could do.
I had to look up what a Rufie was. I’m sorry i’m not cool enough
[...] Consider new album The Boy With No Name my Neon Bible, as you can have your Arcade Fire. This is the kind of music that makes me giddy and excited. The album will be released on May 7th, with the first single “Closer” being released in the UK on April 23rd. You can actually listen to the single on the band’s myspace, so keep an eye out as they might add more tracks to be streamed there as well. I’m just hoping that date is for a US release as well or i’ll be pretty pissed. That’s gonna be a huge month for me with that release along with Rufus Wainwright’s new album in the same month. [...]
