I’ve been listening to this new track from L. Pierre’s, aka Aidan Moffat of the now defunct Arab Strap, third album Dip under the moniker. It’s not the first album released under this name as he’s released two other albums originally as Lucky Pierre before shortening the name before the release of his second album Touchpool. Just don’t expect anything similiar to anything from Arab Strap as this is a complete instrumental affair. Recorded before Arab Strap’s breakup was finalized, the album’s theme is said to be that of nature and the great outdoors. The six track LP will be released Melodic on January 15th.

That’s obvious just from this one track i’ve been enjoying called “Hike”. It starts off with an almost frantic playing of strings before a nice drum loop kicks in, which continues on for the entire duration of the track. When I listen to it though, I get this innate feeling to go running for long distances somewhere in the wilderness. Though with my out of shape ass, I probably wouldn’t get too far doing that. Still, the track has this sense of immediacy to want do something that involves some form of outdoor activity.
