The Pernice Brothers, who have been slowly previewing more and more tracks off their upcoming album Live a Little (due out in October), have three new tracks to stream on their website. One thing you can count on about the Pernice Brothers is something that is consistant. Listen to this track “Somerville” and see for yourself. For the unfamiliar, an album I highly recommend everyone check out is 2003’s Yours, Mine & Ours which was one of my favorite albums of that year.

In other interesting news, that I just happened to catch only a couple of minutes ago, is possibly a new song from The Postal Service’s upcoming album (due out early next year). Head over to Good Weather for Airstrikes and check it out and see if you think it’s the real deal. Apparently the vocalist on the track is Jimmy Tamborello, which I find very unlikely as he sounds nothing like whoever is singing on that song- unless someone recently kicked him in the balls. According to the article, the album will be split up into thirds with Ben Gibbard, Jenny Lewis and Jimmy Tamborello each individually creating their own lyrics and music for their respective parts. Sounds interesting yeah? Back to the track though, i’m still iffy about who’s singing but towards the end it starts to sound like something you’d expect from The Postal Service with backup vocals from Jenny Lewis possibly? Or could be Gibbard, who knows really as for all we know the song could be a fake. Just be happy that there’s new Postal Service coming out!

Yeah, it didn’t sound like Tamborello to me either (in fact, I’m listening to some of his stuff now and then I’m gonna listen to the “new track” again. It does sound way more Postal Service-esque at the end… We’ll see I guess. I can’t say either way.

I’m being more and more convinced that it isn’t Postal Service at all. It’s too easy to copy their sound, and I think if i’m asking myself so many questions than it’s more then likely too good to be true.
