Well, earlier this week, in his Daily Graboid, Paul reminded us that Hello Dear Wind, Page France’s excellent sophomore album, was just rerelased this week. That, plus the great discovery that I’ll get to see them perform with Anathallo (whom I’ll probably write about soon) come November, has inspired me to sing their praises now.

Page France hail from Baltimore, MD, and revolve around singer-songwriter Michael Nau. Their music sounds like the lovechild of Sufjan Stevens, the Decemberists, and Death Cab for Cutie, all with that “indie-Christian” outlook that’s all the rage these days, earnest vocals, and mostly acoustic yet never boring insrumentation. Their first album, Come, I’m a Lion, showed their talent and potential, and Hello Dear Wind shows the continued progress their making. I must admit that I still like their debut best, although Hello Dear Wind is the more artistically accomplished of the two albums. They are currently in the studio, according to their website, and are about to head out for another big tour. I highly recommend eveything they’ve done, and I’m looking forward to seeing them live. As always, enjoy…

From Hello Dear Wind
Page France “Chariot”
Page France “Junkyard”

From Pear and Sister Pinecone (Limited Edition EP set)
Page France “Antarctica”

From Come, I’m a Lion
Page France “Bridge”
Page France “Love and Interruption”

And now I’m off to play a little acoustic show of my own… mixed in with my own songs, tonight I’ll be playing a couple personal favs- Elliott Smith’s “The Biggest Lie” and the Decemberists “Engine Driver.” Here’s hoping I don’t screw them up!

I just love how this bad sounds. The instrumentals, vocals, and lyrics all seem to match each other perfectly.
