The Oohlas are a band I’ve recently come into listening to, and it’s easily some of the best pop-rock i’ve heard in months. But with a soon to be released album titled Best Stop Pop, what else would you come to expect? When researching this band some, I found some very interesting information about it’s members. Remember the band Everclear? Come on, don’t lie! Anyways, The Oohlas’ vocalist/guitarist Greg Eklund was a former drummer of the group and left the band in 2004. Soon after the rest of the band rounded out with his younger brother Mark Eklund on bass and guitarist/vocalist Ollie sharing vocal duties with Greg.
If you like your music crammed with energy and chock full of hooks then look no further as this one is just littered with them. The album also shares a great male/female lead vocal dynamic that serves it’s purpose well as when either Greg and Ollie are doing the vocal work, they make their respective songs unique and pleasurable.
Best Stop Pop, according to their website, will be released sometime next month. If you head over to their website you can download their 6 track EP that was released a few years ago. The improvement from those tracks is enormous. I personally love the album, as I always enjoy these boy/girl kinds of pop music. Hopefully you’ll like this one too. They’ve been mentioned other places too, so check those out.
