I got this e-mail last night from a guy promoting a band called Ivy League. I noticed that one of the songs listed in their upcoming ep is an Arcade Fire cover of Crown of Love. After a listen to the ep I’ve decided these guys are a clone of Kings of Convienence (which isn’t a bad thing necessarily). However, I really dig this cover. If you are into the KoC sound then buy their ep here.

I was gonna write about Ivy League today too. “London Bridges” is really good stuff. You’re right about the KoC comparison…a very lofi and stripped down Koc, even a bit of Simon & Garfunkel as well.
Haha- I got the email and was going to write about it too. Good thing we didn’t all do it at the same time, eh?
I think that would’ve been great haha.
I wonder if this Ivy League knows about the old Ivy League from the UK in the 60s. They are still around (and something of a joke), but they had a number of great songs, most notably “Tossing and Turning” which you can catch occasionally on oldies stations. They were contemporaries of Gerry and the Pacemakers and other early Mersey/Brit Invasion people.
Heya Lucas! How’s it going?
I’ve been meaning to post those bands in those emails you’ve been sending out. There’s so much crazy good stuff in those.
I think Auburn is starting to represent itself well now hahaha
