I got this Chemikal Underground compilation the other day that was lined up with some decent bands from that label. It had tracks from Interpol, Mogwai, etc… and this new band I haven’t heard of called De Rosa. I didn’t really feel pulled towards the song featured on the comp., but perhaps it was being overshadowed by the bigger names. That is… until I discovered I had also received De Rosa’s full LP (Mends) in the same package. I gave it a listen and fell head over heels for the track New Lanark. Their sound does pull from the Glasgow scene, but at the same time it has this Americanized sound to it. They’re a band from Glasgow (technically Lanarkshire) and are going on tour with Mogwai soon (in Europe). Check out their myspace and buy their record.
