So I sit here with my cable blaring in the other room yet what am I doing on the computer, none other than surfing YouTube for some good tidbits. I mean really, we must face it, no matter how many channels you have coming over your cable or being beamed down to your satellite or saved on your dvr or “on demand,” you just can’t get the stuff on there that you can get on YouTube.

That being said, one of my favorite YouTube trends of late is bands posting videos to advertise upcoming releases (I was highly amused by the TV on the Radio bits a while back). The latest I have found is for Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s upcoming Drag City album set for release in September called The Letting Go.

I give you part one (of three) guest starring Neil Hamburger and complete with references to Veranda magazine, gay thrift stores, and homicide:

In addition you can also find the video for the first single to the album called Cursed Sleep. Beware, I was a little creeped out when the ET wrestling began, but maybe that’s just me…

Bonnie “Prince” Billy is in the middle of a month-long jaunt to various independent record stores in support of the album (thanks to the Paste Culture Club podcast for a heads-up on this a while back):

P.S. – After I had found these I continued searching by association and came upon this interview with Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsome which was apparently shot at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival back in 2005. It’s an oldie, but goodie…enjoy!
