The following was posted on NME, and it’s great and exciting news and all that there will be new stuff to look forward to from Mr. Albarn. Still though, i’d be happy with a new Blur album too (Think Tank wasn’t that bad!). I’m not complaining though, at least the man still makes music and didn’t decide to become a hermit and disappear from the face of the earth.

I made a small mix below of Blur tracks and stuff he’s done away from the band because i was bored. Here’s that article from the site though:

Damon Albarn has formed a new band for his next project.

The Blur frontman was working on a solo project with Danger Mouse producing, but now the pair have switched their attention to working on a new album called ‘The Good The Bad And The Queen’.

The record has been recorded by the new group which features The Clash’s bassist Paul Simonon, former Verve man and auxiliary Blur guitarist Simon Tong and drummer Tony Allen along with Albarn.

They plan to release their debut single in October, before the full album – a concept record about London – is released in January next year.

The group will make their live debut at the BBC’s Electric Proms season at revamped Camden venue The Roundhouse this October.

Sounds good yeah?

Thanks for the news & tracks! I discovered Blur criminally late (like, within the past year), so it’s great to see he’s still trying out new stuff.

I’d rather have discovered Blur now, instead of before when their squabbling with Oasis was more important to people then their music….which makes me feel old for some reason.

But yeah, classic example of what branching out into new musical territory can do for your career (i.e. Gorillaz)

I agree, it’s just i remember when it was released that there was this huge backlash from people about how much they hated it. Bleh, still sounds good to me.
