Why hello there, long time reader and first time contributor here. Just thought I would start throwing my 2 cents in on this whole quality music thing, for what they’re worth.

First, The Go! Team has posted a cover of Sonic Youth’s Bull in the Heather on their myspace page and I think it pretty much kicks ass. As much as I enjoy the original, I think their sound really adds something that was previously lacking.

They’ll be coming to the states next month to play some festival dates as well as a few dates with Sonic Youth.

Jul 28 2006 > Hedgepath Festival – Twin Lakes, WI
Jul 29 2006 > Red Rocks – Morrison, CO
Jul 30 2006 > Granada – Lawrence, KS
Jul 31 2006 > Sokol Underground – Omaha, NE
Aug 2 2006 > Music Mil – Indianapolis, IN
Aug 3 2006 > Cuyahoga Falls Festival (Sonic Youth also appearing) – Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Aug 4 2006 > State Theater (Sonic Youth also appearing) – Detroit, MI
Aug 5 2006 > Lollapalooza Festival (Sonic Youth also appearing) – Chicago, IL
Aug 6 2006 > Pabst Theatre (with Sonic Youth) – Milwaukee, WI

Second, below you’ll find songs from the last 6 months that I feel are of note. I’ve tried not to post any repeat songs and was trying to not post any repeat artists, but that just didn’t turn out to be very feasible.

So, without further adeiu (and in no particular order other than reverse alphabetical), here are some of the songs I’ve picked out (with help from my favorite WREK DJ) for you to check out:

Zero 7 | Throw It All Away

The Flaming Lips | It Overtakes Me…
The Black Angels | The Prodigal Son
Sunset Rubdown | The Men Are Called Horsemen There
Regina Spektor | Apres Moi
Ms John Soda | Plenty Of
Mia Doi Todd | Kokoro
Kelley Stoltz | Memory Collector
Jenny Lewis + The Watson Twins | Paradise
Gnarls Barkley | The Boogie Monster
