(Ok, this is the first time i’ve ever posted a blog, so i’m going to try to make it short n sweet….and you’ll have to forgive me for broken links and whatnot!)
So i recently moved to Georgia from Tucson, Arizona, and i’d been feeling like my music playlist had grown pretty stale since i moved out here. I don’t have any kind of mp3 player in my car, and the radio stations out here are terrible…i prefer talk radio over any of the music stations out here. Until this blog came along i hadn’t heard anything new in over a year.
This morning i got a little homesick for the desert and started looking up random Tucson stuff, and i discovered something that made me very happy…
There’s a really cool local radio station in Tucson called KXCI. Like most local, independent stations they have a variety of different programs…some are great, and others make you want to tear your ears off. But if you know when your favorite shows are playing, you’ll hear some great stuff. Back in Tucson, this station was where i learned about new artists, albums, and upcoming shows. They often have local or touring artists doing live studio performances…and with local artists such as calexico, neko case, howe gelb (giant sand), nick cave, and many others, you know you’ll hear some good music….you just gotta know when to catch it!
Anyway, to get to the point of my post…they have a live radio stream on their website, and i highly highly highly recommend trying to catch “your morning brew”, “the home stretch” or “Kidd Squidd’s Mystery Jukebox”, or any other program that sounds interesting to you…there’s pretty much something there for everybody. I can’t tell you what time it’ll be on for you, but you can find the program for their shows here, with times listed in whatever timezone Arizona is in (i forget). You can also check out a play list for any of the programs here (seriously, check out playlist for any day of “your morning brew” or his myspace page and you’ll see why i love this station…Jim Blackwood is one of my heroes).

alabama is worse in terms of radio stations. I’d check out http://www.woxy.com. Usually what i listen to all the time, very solid independent radio. Before i stalked blogs that would be where i’d find new music.
What a great site, how do you build such a cool site, its excellent.
